Canning dried beans

I want to can some dry beans to have ready for quick meals in the coming 'crazy seasons'. I grew a bunch of different dry beans last summer, and want to do a few jars of each one to have some variety. My pressure canner will hold 18 pints. I have done it before where I cooked the beans first, then processed them, and ended up with some mushy beans, too soft and overcooked. Also, if I want to do a bunch of different varieties, that's a lot of seperate pots. I'm wondering if I could just soak the beans well, load them into the jars with boiling water, and let the pressure canning process cook them in the jar. Just realized that maybe there wouldn't be enough water in the jar..., but seems like I saw a recipe doing it this way. Any opinions? Marty
