Shot 1 looks like dill or fennel. Shot 2 looks like oregano.

1st one seems like dill, i was thinking parsley or cilantro. it does have an herb like scent when i crush the leaves or when i mow the lawn. some how there's a ton of it growing on one side of my front yard.

the 2nd one i thought was thyme. i googled oregano and the flowers dont seem to match any oregano listed. and it doesnt seem to have any flavor when i crush the leaves. i read there is Greek oregano and plain oregano. i guess mine are the plain variety. it is pretty though, so i;ll keep it.

Appears little orange flowers are part of the second plant. If they are not oregano. Cute little things though.

Perhaps scarlet pimpernel Anagallis arvensis for the orange flowered plant?

thanks for the id's, does look like scarlet pimpernel. seems to have a few medicinal uses.

I think none of them is herb.
Dill is an annual and can seed itself but it will take months to grow a foot or so. I have some,from last year's own seeding; they are just a few inches tall.

Oregano, if perrenial kind and over winters, at the most can grow 8" or so by now and noway they will flower at that stage.

If you have the smallest hint of a doubt of a plant's true identity, don't use it! Mother Nature isn't always kind, and one of her nastiest and meanest tricks is to make a dangerous plant look just like a harmless one, eg. Parsley and Fool's Parsley (Aethusa cynapium), or wild carrot and hemlock. Death could be the price you pay for your uncertainty.

Treat them all as weeds and play safe.

that second one looks like chickweed.

No, the second one is definitely Anagalis arvensis, Scarlet Pimpernel.

The first one is a common weed which grows in this area. Don't know the name.
