Don't sweat it. Just plant out the clump. But be warned, dill often bolts when transplanted and is better sown in situ. For some people it actually self sows if you let it flower.

Agreed. Plant the clump trying to disturb the roots as little as possible and cross your fingers it doesn't bolt. Mother Nature will probably "weed out" all but the strongest plants in your clump anyways.

Dill is one of the easiest herbs to direct sow. If I was making a herb seed collection for kids/new gardeners, it's one I would definitely include.

I usually just plant outside in the spring, enjoy, save the seeds in the fall and replant the next year.
Dill is a great herb in so many ways. visually, scent wise and it tastes good.
