Ok let me try this again. I wanted to show you guys a few more pics. For some reason these Basil plants have this brownish spot on them and I am not sure why.

Probably sun burn, or heavy rain, strong wind, handling bruises.
They will toughen up.

Thanks Cyrus...................I am trying to figure which of these problems these plants have. Let me address each:

Sunburn-----I try to get these plants some sun each day if I can. Here in NY, we have not had a huge amount of sun in the past month. Sure, there have been days where they got 6-8-10 hours of sun but there have also been days where they stayed in for the whole day because of a lot of rain or wind. SO let me ask....would 10 hours in one day be too much for plants this size?

Wind----there HAVE been some windy days here, for sure. I have tried to be aware of that but who knows? So that may be the case.

Heavy Rain----they have not been exposed to rain, for the most part, at all.

Handling Bruises-----truthfully I have not had any incidents like that. My wife says I treat these plants like they are babies!

The problem I have had, I think, is trying to gauge the right amount of water. Since most of the plants I am growing are fine I guess I am doing OK. But I know there have been times where, since I thought I overwatered that I let them go for a couple of days only to find that they were dry as a bone. I think I am finally getting better though.

Last year I had a great Basil crop.. Several of my Sweet and Lemon Basil were 30 inches or so tall. We'll see what happens this year. Thanks again.
