Just type in "Lemon Balm" in the search field and it will pull up all sorts of recipes using lemon balm.

I use Recipezaar.com all the time. It's a great site for anyone who loves to cook and/or cook with their own herbs.

I dug some of mine up and traded it with local people

Mine is just starting to flower now. I've tested the leaves, and although the bush is quite large, it's still as lemony as ever.

Hey Herboholic! You are so lucky! Mine was always small, and not so big like yours. Then.. two years ago... it started got bad fire blight. Last year, it grow back some, but it got fire biight again! I am wondering WHY??? I loved Lemon Balm for drinking tea. I will miss it this year. Sighs.. Do u know why it got fire blight? Kat

Kat....I'm not sure what fire blight is, lol. I'll betcha heathen1, daisyduckworth or ksrogers would know for sure. They are truly seasoned veterans of the garden I've come to realize from being on this forum.

The first year I grew lemon balm, it got red spots on it, and did poorly. It died out over the winter, I left it in its pot. When the weather turned warm, I noticed new growth. So I took it out of the pot, and sliced the top three inches off of it, in a disc-like. I planted that and it grew into the monster that it is today. I couldn't believe it. I will be looking for tons of uses for it besides making tea. I think I'm lucky because I've heard that they can start to lose their flavor once they become as big as mine is, but so far so good. The leaves are nice and lemony and they taste good.

I have pruned it just once, about a month ago, and that's when it really took off!

deafblossom, lemonbalm does not get fireblight. Would you care to describe the symptoms, and maybe someone will be able to help with an identification.
