Basil is doing horrible

It started out healthy and bushy and green (although it was young seedling when I got it) but it is now light green-yellowish. It has little holes in it and only leaves at the top. Its about a foot tall and stems are COMPLETELY bare- no leaves no stems. I REALLY need some help. I live in a hot and sunny state but they dont get to much sun.
