Same requirements as for any other mint - constantly moist (but not soggy) soil; full sun or partial shade; (full sun in cooler areas to produce more flavour; partial shade in hot climates to produce larger leaves); an absolute thug if let loose in the garden.

Same cautions (and medical reasons for drinking it) apply to drinking the tea as to peppermint - it's a medicine, not a beverage. Moderation, moderation, moderation.

I don't mind a little apple mint chopped into apple sauce to serve with pork or ham - just adds a little oomph. Not bad with chicken, either, or in an apple dessert.

It is the same as most mints, but mine doesn't spread as much. It does grow tall-- usually mine gets to 3 - 4 feet high here in the SW mountains of Colorado. It's good in teas and for cooking/baking. I use mints, with other garden flowers, for centerpieces on the table -- nice fragrance!

There are at least two mints that have the common name of applemint.
One, Mentha suaveolens is an unvariegated form of pineapple mint and the other, M. xvillosa var. alopecuroidesi, has larger, wooly leaves and has more of a spearmint aroma. They both spread like mint though.

You can grow this, or any mint next to any other mint. The flavors don't "mingle". If planted in the same container, they get entangled and compete with one another but that is all.
