For a cold drink with fresh mint I would probably go more the mojito route. Muddle the mint, add lime juice, water, and the sweetener of your choice. Add rum if you are of the mind to. Or not, as you choose. If you use lime or lemon juice you need to add something sweet to balance out the sour flavor. You don't have to make it a sweet drink, if that is not what you are looking for, but just enough sweetener to balance and round out the flavors.

In cold drinks I would use "bar sugar" for best dissolving results. If you are looking for low calorie drinks, remember that a level teaspoon of sugar is only 15 calories.
