This does NOT look like the Genovese variety of basil to me. Genevese has larger leaves that are wrinkled. Looks like maybe something got mislabeled.

Is this what Italian Large Leaf looks like, (because I only grew two kinds trying to find a large leaf), but the leaves aren't "large"?

A single leaf of large leaf is bigger than your open hand. I grew it and it reached 6 foot tall. The leaves were quite mild though.

I also grew the Genovese & large leaf basil. Once the plants were big enough to start picking I did find the leaves on both to be large, with maybe the Genovese showing more wrinkle. However, once it starts to flower, even when I'm pinching off the seeds, the leaves became more like the ones in your picture. I did notice the some leaves lower in the shade, were still a little less pointy. I plant mine along side, and in between my tomato plants. Overall, I was happy with the production, in spite of our drought conditions this year.

Denno's accessment is also what I've seen. Drought stressed plants often will produce smaller leaves and seem to flower more readily too.

I wish I knew the answer. Both plants were checked each day and if the soil looked like it was beginning to dry out, they got watered. Maybe I should put them in an area that is a little more shaded? Does anyone know of any other variety of Sweet Basil that produces a larger leaf? Paul

This year I grew Valentino, a large, blister-leaf variety (got some seeds through the seed exchange forum). It is a sweet basil not unlike Genovese in taste. We've been pleased with it, and I plan to harvest seeds so should have some available this fall.

Geez I dont know but I wish my plants were growing that well. I am shamed now lol. I thought mine were doing well. Maybe I should try to get pictures up in my post on bringing herbs indoors lol. They do look great.
