No, the Stella De Oro daylily does not like to grow in Florida. It is a dormant daylily. If you have some they may last a year or two then wither away. There are many, many daylilies that grow and thrive in Florida. I live in Kenneth City (St. Pete) and grow over 348 different cultivars in my gardens. Select evergreen and some semi-evergreens for Florida.

kelly--make SURE to incorporate LOTS of organic material into the soil... otherwise the lilies just disappear (or that's been my experience). frankly i like rain lilies better--they bloom many times a year and are far tougher. also, cheaper!

I only have a dozen or so but my daylilies do very well in Central Florida. Like Elaine says, select evergreen varieties and you should be OK. Mine don't get as tall as the varieties I was used to in other parts of the country so I use them in clusters and close to the front of the bed.

I brought several large clumps of Stella with me 11 years ago when I came back to Orlando from Baltimore. They only lasted 3 years and declined steadily until they just disappeared.
