I have only ever heard of the one kind. However, sometimes sun can cause many of my hoyas to get red blotches or color on the leaves. Although, I have never had it just get on the edges, so this may be a new and different kind. Why don't you take a cutting and see if it stays like that. You may have a new sport.
Sometimes I have had long vines come out of Krinkle 8 that have reverted back to being regular carnosa (no dimples on/in the leaves). Those I cut out to keep the plant pure.

Does this red edge stay red, or does it mature to white? I ask as a number of Carnosas have pink/red leaves which whiten as they mature. I have heard it said that Krinkle 8 is a form of Carnosa, so that's why I ask.

I grow both Krinkle 8s, solid green & a gr./white varigate, but my variegate has no red or pink on it (while a number of my Carnosa types like Krimson Queen esp. do have this & the leaves definately whiten w/ age). My solid green is a fairly fast grower when active, vs. the varigate which is a very slow grower for me.

I only noticed this red edge in the last week or so. I've not had mine planted up and growing actively. Had to get those roots going, ya' know?

This looks like one of those leaves that gets the darker brown/red line at the very leaf edge. I haven't kept any of these alive long, so the name escapes me...

I didn't even know they came variagated! But it is not a type of 'princess' or 'queen' coloring band. Just a dark leaf edge type of thing. It is thin enough that I'm not even sure my camera could catch it to show what I'm talking about. And its notched in places where a leaf edge could have received damage. I will try as the days lengthen to move them closer so their culture is much the same.

What would cause my hoya crinkle 8 to revert back to a regular hoya carnosa?
