Why make it go away? It presents no danger to you...

My 2 year old keeps trying to stick his hand in where he lives. I know it's rare they bite, but it could happen and although it's not venomous, you can still get sick from a snake bite (from what I've read). Plus, my brave brave husband is terrified of snakes. LOL

I HATE snakes... I know my fear is irrational. I know they are harmless, but still hate seeing them in my yard. In the past, I'd see maybe 2-3 per season. This year so far at least 25 sightings (could be the same 5-10 snakes at different times) They are the eastern ribbon and common garter varieties. I know there must be a nest near my compost and shed. Don't wish them harm, just want them NOT in my yard! I know they are harmless. They can be in my yard, just not when I'm there!

Well, we just have this one for now and from what I've been told, he'll be hard to catch and he's harmless so I guess we'll leave him alone. I just have to stop thinking about him and I'm fine. He is getting bigger though - ugh.

Snakes eat the things that eat your plants, like mice, moles, chipmunks, insects. Be glad they're around.

Make it a learning experience for your child. If he sees you're all fearful and wanting him to stay away, he'll be more curious. Get some books on reptiles for him and give him the knowledge. Take him to a zoo to show them to him. Then teach him respect for the nest. There must be a lot to eat if there are a lot of snakes!

We have a few snakes living right near our back door. They are persistant in sunning themselves wherever they want! This afternoon my daughter and I decided to name "our" snake. He is officially "Sneaky"! LOL

Well, unfortunately, this one has a diet of frogs, not mice.

well, I wish a snake would eat up those little chipmonks that have been digging dozens of holes in my yard, and of course my veggie garden and into my roses?!
