I would say yes, the droppings are indications of visitors during the day. I also tilt my feeders (the ones that fill from the top) everyday and when I see a bubble, I tell myself that it indicates that I have had visitors!

June - sometimes other birds like finches try to feed from the feeder. If you're seeing teeny droppings, it might be hummers but it also might be other birds that will perch along the hanger and try to drink from the feeder ports (which would put their bodies in a position where droppings could land on the feeder). I've never seen any droppings on my feeder, although I wouldn't count it out if there are a bunch of birds around it or if one perches right above for an extended time (to claim it as part of its territory).

Now the hummingbirds are coming on a regular basis, they are just so interesting to watch. I am changing the feeder every day because it has been so hot.
