hummers will not drink from one feeder

Last year, I bought a new hummingbird feeder, put it out and the hummers wouldn't touch it...just hovered over it a few seconds and flew off. I put it out again this year and they are avoiding it again. I always make sure I clean the feeder and put new nectar in every few days, especially when it is hot outside. This feeder does have a red base, so I know they can see that. Yesterday, I even saw one hummer chase another away from this feeder! Are they just used to the feeders that I've had out for several years now? Thanks.
