I'm never fast enough! This was a miracle opportunity. LOL Even with the camera on, it's so hard to get the camera centered on the action, which usually results in them both zipping away within a few seconds of discovering each other. But this time, they actually faced each other down like equals rather than one chasing the other away and were out there for at least a minute like that - an eternity in hummer time! It reminded me alot of the male guppy antics, with all the tail flashing that those fish do or even betta fish aggressive movements when males encounter each other.

And yeah, that was a neat picture of the juvie. I had to zoom about 20ft while outside and find an open spot between the shrubs and vines along the way to get him focussed. The flash did a good job over that distance though!

Love the capture of the antics! Mine have certainly been showing off, but they are SO quick it's almost impossible to get more than one. I tried to video the hummer wars, but they're just a tiny blur in the photos...although you can hear them squeaking!

I LOVE the pic of the "jewel" on the juvie male. Amazing that it is so reflective. Looks like an inset ruby :-)

I Love IT! (and the red bag gives me a grin every time I see it...) What a great background of trees you have for your photos from your apartment too.

Yeah you know that bag really works! Even my little regulars will still buzz around it and it can be seen from the street as a neon spot of red. I want to make sure these little birds remember this spot next year! LOL Maybe they will come earlier next spring knowing this is here (and is a safe secluded place to feed if they can put up with the annoying human with the camera..lol).

There are alot of trees planted around here and some woods down at the other end of the building across the street. Plus the area is hilly so that enhances the view. That's mainly why I picked this place - for the large balcony and the view. I can see for about 10 miles on a clear day and can even see across the Delaware River into New Jersey.
