The concentrate probably has a preservative (such as Sodium benzoate) in it. Another reason not to feed it to our hummers.

I agree that it has a preservative. Consider making your own salad dressing or mayonaise. You would have to refrigerate it right after making it but the commercially made stuff can sit on the grocery store shelf for months without refrigeration.

Thanks Penny and ctnchpr, I should have though about preservatives. With Mayo and salad dressing one must put in fridge after opening. I wonder if this is the case with the first nature. I doubt it as I was able to read on the label no refidgeration needed. Must really be filled with the presevatives.

Yes, I agree with above comments and that is why is doesnt need refridgerated. For myself I very seldom refridgerate the mix as I just make enough to use at the time. I have it down that pat.

I mix my own into a 16 oz feeder I use 3 oz regular sugar. I have three feeders and I number them 1 thru 3. My hummers number in the 20's so they consume about 16 oz per day. They lick the holder dry! They like the feeder that is out in the open so they drain that one first. I then move the next feeder into the empty position. Works great.
