While rhodies and azaleas tend to be avoided by deer most of the time, they can be occasionally damaged. Deer will eat anything if they are of a mind to but generally the damage is done by the youngsters. They will test any plants - usually the very tender new growth - before they decide the taste is not to their liking. Adults tend to leave these plants alone as they are toxic if eaten in any quatity. So damage is not usually severe but it can happen.

Deer will often sample new plants in the garden as well......checking them out to see if they are tasty.
