Wondering how the flush look into the wood floor was achieved?

Most square balusters I've see have only one rounded end and require a shoe on the other. Would love to know how this was pulled off.

The contractor (or rather his worker) used a square mortising drill and then cleaned up the holes with a chisel. The spindles were then secured into the wood floor and stair treads with a high strength epoxy. It was a pretty laborious process, as you can imagine.

Can you share the sizes of the balusters and handrails?

The spindles are 5/8" square stainless steel and the hand rail dimensions are 2 3/4" x 1 5/8" mahogany. I hope this helps.
