Yes! Stanton Designs saw the same thing I did, the woods clash. I also agree the chairs should be wooden. You could either upholstery the seat or get a modern looking (no ruffles!) chair pad.

I have plain wooden chairs that match the ebony stain. I guess I could just add a seat pad or have to seat uplostered. Should the fabric be solid or is it ok to go with a pattern? I have a medateranian syle, is there anyway to make the feel go in that direction so that I can steer clear of the rustic farm feel?

Great chair! And a pattern will certainly hide more dirt than a solid. I did a search for Meditteranian fabric, what do you think of this fabric? On my monitor it would seem to compliment the fireplace.
