Need help in remodeling my master bedroom

Hi, I would be extremely great full if someone could help me in making my Master Bedroom feel cozy. As you can see I have all this extra space in front of my bed. I feel it's missing a bench or chair or something. I would also like to paint the walls. Maybe a light grey. I also need a new painting or something behind the bed. And I am missing a chandelier or light on the ceiling. And need new accent pillows... Help!!! Thank You, Maggie

It's already nice! Just needs a few tweaks :) Here are my thoughts... I would go with a more substantial paint color (darker/richer) to add coziness. If you're going to keep the general color scheme going, maybe a blue/gray. I would hang a large framed mirror behind the bed and move the current painting (which is nice) to another wall. Add new throw pillows (at least 4) in a variety of colors/patterns that coordinate. Move the rug (which may be too small for the scale of your room) to create a separate seating area near the TV. Add a chaise or 2 chairs, angled on the rug- it will take some experimenting to get right. Then 2 lamps on your side tables.

    Hope this helps!

I love your color choices! Totally my style. Question: Will the picture behind the bed hang horizontally? I would do that. And try flipping the rug around, so some of it shows on both sides and some at the bottom.

I don't think you need more pillows, I think you need less pillows. Try eliminating either the 2 brown ones, or 2 of the white ones.

I would add bedside lamps but not drapes, I like the simplicity of your windows the way they are.

have you considered moving the bed against the long wall....also, you have so much room you could make a little sitting area in front of the TV.

I love the way your room looks. The colors you chose are awesome. Yes, A small sofa or love seat is needed for the front of the bed and place your a area rug in front of it.. Add a small table and also. Add accent pillows in a teal blue or rust in a stripe or a flower or some other pattern for texture.

What a pretty room! I think your space can handle two comfy upholstered low back chairs at the foot of the bed, with an interesting round accent table between them. The art above the bed is great but I think for another wall because of the two windows flanking the bed, there is too many rectangles. Two square art pieces above the bed, or a round piece above the bed will break that up, along with the round accent table.

Your room is off to a great start!!! I too would flip the artwork behind your bed horizontally, and eliminate a couple of the white pillows. I could really see you adding one or two aqua blue or copper colored pillows to your bed to help pull from the color in your great artwork!

That patterned rug really isn’t doing your room justice in terms of scale and pattern. I could see you finding a large (at least 8x10) area rug to put by your bed but that would also extend into the other open area of the room. It may just need to be centered in the open area of the room (which I see being used as a great sitting area). You could easily fit two chairs and an ottoman or perhaps just a chair and chaise. If you were to add these you may find that you really don’t need anything at the foot of the bed.

A modern light fixture or chandelier would add a lot to the space as well. Although I don’t think you have to have drapery, I do think it would be nice to have a soft sheer that helps to soften the hard edge of the windows, would make your window appear larger and would also create more height in the room.

Here are a couple rugs I think would suit you well!

I agree that a seating area could work very nicely in front of the bed. Two comfy chairs/low back, with a small table in between. A larger rug that lays under the bed and extends to the seating area. Wow, what a gorgeous stone wall! Love how warm and cozy it is!

Turn the rug so that when you get out of bed your feet hit the rug.It doesn't have to go under the end tables so you would have rug all around the bed. Paint the wall an accent color, and layer your bed. You can go to Pottery Barn.com and they have a video on layering. Put a couple on wall lights on each side of the bed for reading, other than a few tweaks you did a great job. Love the room

Laughing - I just de-cluttered my bedroom to look like yours. Love this room - how nice to have so much space! But large bedrooms can lack coziness, agree. The colors you've chosen are warm, but if you go a darker gray or khaki, that would be fine, too. Will bring the walls in a little closer to a more comforting human scale. But mostly, I'd switch the bed with the TV wall. Let that really cool stone w/ the recesses become your "headboard" & bed wall. Very simple but warm & elegant. Do add an ottoman or two at the foot of your bed. Very handy & looks nice. Then, maybe divide the room in half using two to four 36-38" high bookcases or cabinets; or two long, lower storage consoles. Create a half-wall effect. Make sure they have decent backs. (Will be seen) Just beyond the bookcases, create a sitting area with two chaises for TV viewing. It's also a nice area to look out the two windows. I don't think the room needs a large ceiling light fixture if you do all this, but if you choose one, go with something equally clean & modern looking. jmo (PS. If it's just you using this room, you don't need 2 night stands & 2 lamps. One simple, understated 18"-24" low wood bench, left side of the bed, beneath the window, makes a great bedside table. Keep your eyeglasses, pens & paper, etc. in a pretty box on top. Then add a sleek, modern, minimal adjustable/swing-arm halogen floor lamp & you have plenty of light for reading in bed.)
