Spring Scionwood Exchange

Hey all you home Orchardists and Fruit Growers.

There will be a scionwood exchange on Saturday, February 28th, from 10 AM to 5 PM, at Federal Way 320th Street Library, just a few blocks west of the Sea Tac Mall on 320th.

Admission............FREE

Please, no pets

All we ask is that you bring a few labelled cuttings of apple, pear, fig, quince, grape or any other dormant scionwood.

No patented varieties please.

Please bring a few plastic bags, marker pens.

Best to keep scionwood in some damp newspaper.

I have already got quite a few good apple selections, but we need more Pear and Quince stuff.

How do we know if a variety is patented? Is it just likely to be anything new within the last 10-20 years or so?

If you have a Named Apple or other tree, just go on line and see if it is advertised by a retail nursery. you can be sure the propagator will make mention of the fact. The majority of Old time and Well known fruit varieties are OK though. Check the catalogs of local nurseries that specialize in fruit trees. Patented varieties will be indicated in the catalog.

Just a reminder that the scionwood exchange is less than a month away, "February 28th". There is no charge for admission, but would like visitors to bring at least one variety of fruit scionwood. The Exchange runs from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday Feb. 28th.
Please no pets.

I sure hope the word gets out. I spent a good while collecting apple scionwood and have about 20 varieties, some of which are very disease resistant, like Liberty and Roxburry Russet.
Will also have a few fig scions to trade.
Please bring something to trade, and please label what ever you do bring with.

Bring your dormant scionwood / cuttings of apple, pear, quince, fig, black currant, plum, grape, etc.
Now is a good time to start getting your scionwood.
Be sure to label your twigs/cuttings.
Best to bring in damp newspaper
Ideal cutting, from 7-18 inches long for most plants.
Please, bring a few extra markers/plastic bags.
No pets please.

I love dogs, cats and other furry little pals, but I am not bringing Mallory along, so please.
Do not bring your pet.
If two pets meet for the first time at the event, it will not usually be favorable, and I doubt the library would even let you bring it in the building.
Will have a lot of wonderful apple varieties to share and the cost is Nada.
Please bring a few scions of your own, and please label them.
