Glad to know that I am not the only one that that is waging war with the slugs. My husband and daughter tease me when I go out at night just like you with my flashlight and go on, "slug patrol." My daughter is too grossed out by them to help me. That's cute that you gave your son incentive! We're out in the boonies with an acre of lawn perimeter, than deep forest. I could fill bags of them each night. Are there different varieties? There are some that are totally different looking. When we used to camp in the Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains, there were these massive yellow ones called Banana Slugs. Those were very special. UC Santa Cruz even has the slug as their mascot.

At dusk, you can actually see them coming out of the forest across the lawn towards my garden!

I have the worst slug damage this year on newly emerging plants that I have ever had. I have been baiting like crazy but maybe I should have had a kid to kill them for me. LOL
