I like overwintering carrots in the garden, using them through the winter, and harvesting them in the spring. What was interesting with this years crop was that they were planted May 11, 2006 so they were actually oversummering and overwintering carrots! I harvested them today, exactly 10 months after planting. I plan to juice most of them, and I have another crop still growing in the garden which were planted in July. Variety is Danver's Half-Long, and yes, I do have sandy soil here on the coast. All the best, Jim
