What kinds of plants?

Perennials. Especially shade lovers. Also deciduous and coniferous shrubs, acers, flowering trees.

In the Seattle area you'd probably see something of interest at this place.

Last weekend I started taking photos of nurseries in Oregon and Washington. Today I went to Wells Medina (and loved it) and Molbak's but haven't yet uploaded photos.

helictotrichon - the next time you're in Gig Harbor check out Rosedale Gardens. They have beautiful landscaping with a lot of art and sculpture mixed in.
Raft Island Roses is right down the street. One of my favorite places!

Vashon Island has some really great nurseries.

I always go to Al's Garden Center in Sherwood when I'm down in Portland. Huge!

I've been meaning to go to Vashon too. Maybe I'll wait for the weather to improve.

And my parents live in the town next to Sherwood, so perhaps I'll end up out there as well!

Dancing Oaks near Monmouth Or is wonderful. I believe they have a web page. Try www.dancingoaks.com. They had a write up in the Oregonian a couple weeks back.
I went when it was over 100 degrees and it still looked great.
Came home poorer as well!

For a smaller selection of unusual plants, including lots of PNW natives, try MsK Rare Plant Nursery.

I have to cast my vote for City People's nursery on Madison, Seattle. Small, but always the best selection and competitive prices--plus very nice and well informed staff.

My vote would be Alpine nursery in Renton WA. I like their large selection of potted true firs, Giant Sequioas and other conifers. They also carry many types of deciduous trees.
