No these don't go wild here.

I planted some Emerald Gaity and a silver leaf variety several years ago and they are very well behaved. Strangely, the emerald gaity is a much faster grower than the silver leaf one (I have several of each). They are low growing shrubs along a walkway and I shear them to keep them tidy. Sort of like heather.

That's one of the very frequently offered Euonymus fortunei cultivars. Two limitations on their use here to be aware of are that these are quite prone to heavy weevil damage when planted in spots that appear to promote the activities of these pests, such as beneath roof overhangs and low-branching conifers, and that they sometimes develop conspicuous crown galls on their branches in damp heavy soils.

I'll research a little more about its growth rate, especially on the east facing concrete retaining wall...
