Well, we're in Oregon City and we seem to get a lot less rain also! In fact we've been downright parched and I spend all my time watering. But last night, praise the Lord! what a storm and more than an inch of the blessed nitrogen-charged thunderstorm rain soaked us, lovely precious wet miracle of life.

We were out watering in the last light of the evening when Kaboom! the skies shook loose. Since we usually get a tiny spattering we just kept watering and all of a sudden we were drenched. I was sandwiched along a chainlink fence and the lightning was really intense and the thought occurred that this wasn't the best place to be, dripping wet pressed against metal with a metal watering nozzle.

The laundry room is a mess and will take a while to run washes and dry out, but oh how nice that luscious rain is! An inch really isn't that much in the big picture, not enough to soak deeply into the ground and saturate the entire root ball and zone of the big trees, so I ran the sprinklers for a short time last night also.

This morning the poor birds look quite bedraggled but my 300+ trees are ecstatic! Furry fluffy exuberant new green growth everywhere! Yiippppppeeeee! The jungle advances :-)

Now if it would just do this every evening, and last all through the night, it would replenish the dry cracked ground and help out all the trees in their Spring Push.

I clearly live in the wrong part of Portland. Perhaps I wouldn't hate it as much if I didn't get as wet.....It poured here last night and has been raining all morning.

It sprinkled lightly until Noon today. One tree never leafed out -- a tall skinny sugar maple. Dead, too bad, in ground 2 years 4 1/2 months, expired this winter. Dug it out, think that spot is a bit too wet for a sugar maple. Took out the dirt and put it on compost pile. Put in fresh 4-way blend and planted a Quercus frainetta aka Hungarian / Italian Oak. Hope it survives!

While the hole was sitting there for an hour it filled about 1/2 foot with water, high water table in this swamp.

The rest of our 300+ swamp trees are doing really well, just growing like mad now. Considering this is their "creep" year and not yet their "leap" year I'm happy.

Wishing all you wet folks could send me your rain ... send it over to Oregon City, the Clackamas - Willamette confluence watershed foothills -- need that rain here!

Mostly dry here with a few light showers, but I have to say this is a pretty bizarre weather pattern just in general.

Hi Ian! We're so happy -- it's been lightly sprinkling for long enough to wet the ground under heavy leaf and needle cover where it usually is dry. For once I don't have to water! yea! Glad we didn't try to go tent camping this weekend.

Wonder if more wild thunderstorms are in the near future. Forecast wobbly on that, yes no yes no maybe perhaps sorta yes no etc.

We could use another pounding soaking driving heavy rain for hours -- what the big trees need.

You guys are lucky. No rain here, thunder, dark clouds but NO rain. A good soaker is so nice, it really gets the new plants growing well.

Seems like we still haven't had much, but today was a 'steady drizzle' and that can be deceiving. (I need to get a rain gauge.) Funny .... we Nor'westers sure have alot of words to describe rain, don't we?

The rain pattern has been unusually localized this weekend. Here in north Clark County we just had a few sprinkles Saturday night, very light rain Sunday morning/early afternoon, a few showers overnight, and an intermittent almost nonexistent mist today. jwww

Well, you should be careful what you wish for! We had a real cloudburst late yesterday afternoon and our brand new, expensive roof leaked! However, it was wonderful for the garden and the roofer is coming back today.
