Did anyone else see that amazing display plant of Trillium chloropetalum giganteum? They were out the for-sale pots of that one by the time I saw it, but it just jumped up near the top of my must-have list. :)

It looked like a plant that was shown and labeled as Trillium kurabashayi at the earlier Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden sale. Based on what I know of these I'm inclined to believe that identification was the correct one. But anyone not sufficiently familiar (including me) has to get out a manual, a ruler and probably a magnifier and look at the fine points to be sure.

I looked up T. kurabashayi, and it does look very much like that one, but honestly it seems like many of the internet pictures out there may have them confused, since there seems to be full overlap in their ID. I'd sure like to know more, do you know if var. giganteum is perhaps an earlier synonym of of kurabashayi?

With Trillium chloropetalum varieties and cultivars, it seems to be the plant grown extensively in botanical gardens in England and Scotland under the illegitimate name T. sessile californicum
