2 years 4+ months since planted 1st batch of about 200 trees, learned that rainfall is way below average and it mists a lot in Spring but not enough to deeply water the entire rootball so the stress of winter freezes then hot spells really fries plants. Started watering in February and now my 300+ trees and shrubs / plants look better than ever. Also have started wormcasting trees and those who have been lucky enough for this treatment are THRIVING.

Spring 2006 & 2007 had same problem as your hibiscus, hence the determination to water early and carefully. This has been an expensive learning curve.

I seem to have lost a lavatera. It was big and beautiful last summer, now just a big trunk with a few tiny leaves. Everything else survived I think.

I should have said lavatera, also, I think... people here call them hibiscus. I lost two of them and am pretty sure that my wisteria is gone as well.... certainly the buds don't seem to be moving yet. Oh well, better luck next time!
