Yes: The survivors will grow into the orange, brown and black spiders that build webs in front of windows and similar places. The largest females may look like little nuts with legs by autumn.

I'm visiting all my blooming irises and other flowers daily to kill as many of the white or yellow crab spiders that kill bees as I can. They are beautiful spiders but deadly and so many of them, both the big ferocious ones and the tiny white ones, and the small males with black legs.

No, crab spiders are not deadly to humans but one spider can eat a lot of bees in one year and there aren't many bees around. A fruit grower's got to do what a fruit grower's got to do. I suppose mosquitos and slugs have some benefits too if you look hard enough. I don't have any beef with most spiders. There is a balance in nature though and predators can overrun an ecosystem.

Predators reproduce more slowly than prey otherwise they would starve themselves out. I haven't heard of predators overrunning ecosystems as a normal course of events. Certainly there have been some instances where one has been introduced to a system it didn't evolve in and gobbled up or outcompeted another species - not necessarily one that was a prey species per se before the intruder appeared. I'm thinking of aquatic ecosystems here, lots of problems with supplanting of native species by exotics in that realm.

Honeybees have been reduced in number drastically by varroa mites. There aren't as many to go around. First crab spider I saw this season had her fangs in the neck of a poor fuzzy bee. Very sad. You fail to include us in the natural order. Just like ants dependent on aphids for food I am dependent on bees for pollination of fruit. My predation on crab spiders is very inefficient, there are plenty out there still to keep those bees in check, never fear. And just once didn't you ever wish you could step in when watching those nature films where the lions are hanging on the baby elephant to bring it down? Awww.
