Crypto. J 'Rasen' as espalier?

I just bought a Crypto J "Rasen" for use in a big pot in the inside corner of a solid wood fence in our Asian koi pond garden.

It is about 8 feet tall with lots of branches, will supposedly get to be 20 feet tall, fast grower.

Has anybody trained one of these as an espalier? I think it will be dramatic, very different and exciting.

Won't be able to fan it out unless it has multiple trunks.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a picture?
I'm not familiar with that variety of Cryptomeria.
I imagine you're going to use the branches for espalier instead of the trunk or trunks.

If the plant has one trunk there is nothing to fan out in the usual way for espalier, comparatively short side-branches (typical of conifers) coming off a central axis running up the middle of the frame will not lend themselves to this use.
