wish you could be more specific in your needs as to if you want small or large, deciduous or evergreen, spring or summer flowering etc, etc. but some ideas on the smaller size include cercis (aka redbud) especially c. canadensis and c. occidentalis), cornus (dogwood) especially c. kousa, c. angustata, and c. capitata, magnolia many types both evergreen and decidious), aesculus (horsechestnut) especially a. pavia and a. californica, acacia (can be invasive in northern cal), possibly eucryphia, embothrium (chilean fire bush), arbutus unedo (strawberry tree), and laburnum (golden chain tree), plus zillions of flowering cherries, plums, and crabapples. as far as daphnes, what are you specifically interested in??? a good place to look for flowering trees is sonoma horticultural nursery in sebastapol---they have an on-line catalog. hope this helps.
