Sounds like clematis wilt.

You do not need to do that. Cut down the infected sections and it will most likely recover, especially if you planted it deeper than it was in the pot when you bought it. Generally, they wilt when young and outgrow it. It isn't fatal.

I'm a city gal and not exactly sure what a pole barn is, but if it has a highly reflective surface, your clematis could be simply drying out from too much heat. If it is clematis wilt, then buyorsell's advice is good. Wilt is common to young hybrid clematis during their period of establishment, which can last several years. It is seldom fatal and after cutting back the vine, treat as normal with regular watering, etc. You should see regrowth next season, possibly even some this season, if conditions are good. Clematis do outgrow this problem - just have patience :-) Species clematis tend not to be very susceptible to this problem. If your clematis does not make a successful comeback (and it should), try again with a species - the viticellas tend to be very rewarding and profuse bloomers.

I received a Calla lily for a gift. It has yellow flowers and spotted leaves; it is in a 6" pot. If I plant it in a flower bed, will it survive? Sun or shade?

Leena, most of the potted Callas are hybrids that do not tolerate soggy soil in winter and rot out. Are you on the rainy side of the mountains?

You can try it but no guarantees it will make it. A pot or raised bed might be a better idea. Morning sun is good.
