I planted both hansel and gretel eggplants this year that i got from the snohomish county master gardeners plant sale. I collected a few of the hansel (purple) ones, cut in half lengthwise, and grilled them up with some zucchini. They were inedibly bitter. When I cook large eggplants I usually salt them, but my understanding of smaller eggplants was that they had a tendency to be much less bitter than larger ones.

Has anyone experienced this? Should I just count on salting the rest of the fruit I get off those bushes? I haven't grown eggplant before so I have no frame of reference.
