Wait until the leaves drop and then pop it out. Top does not need to be pruned, but the more root you get the better.

The summer before I moved an Endless Summer hydrangea that looked so puny in it's location that I couldn't stand it anymore. It didn't even droop it's leaves when I moved it to what I thought would be a better place. It still has dinky washed out blooms and is anyone impressed with it?

We have two of the Endless Summers and they are both doing beautifully. The first year after they were planted (last year) they didn't do much as far as blooms go, but this year they've been blooming constantly all summer. They are planted in mostly shade with a little morning sun. We think they might do even better with a little more sun since the one that has the most sun is a little taller, but both are blooming really well so we won't move them.
