We are losing another great local, small, independent garden center. Emery's Garden in Lynnwood will be closing at the end of this year.

Unfortunately, competition from other retailers and pressure from the City of Lynnwood regarding zoning issues and intended improvements have just made life too hard. Not sure why as the location is pretty decent, but traffic has not been heavy for this nursery for a long time and they have struggled financially for years.

I was associated with them for a number of years before I relocated to Kitsap and still consider the remaining staff among my gardening friends. You could always find something unique at Emery's you might not find at the big M or certainly at any of the box stores and a great selection of Japanese maples. I still visit regularly when I am in town.

I'm gonna miss the place.
