What specific kind is it? Pigtail anthurium can be grown under ordinary indoor conditions here, I had one in the living room for years. I have also seen what appeared to be one of the hybrids between it and Andean anthurium growing in the window of a Pho house, near an aquarium. The fish tank would presumably have provided some extra warmth and humidity but it would still have not been anything like the cloud forest-like environment the Andean anthurium requires.

My late grandmother kept some of these latter for years in her Honolulu garden, even there they did not seem particularly well-suited - it not being cool and rainy enough.

It really does depend on what kind of anthurium you have; it's a diverse genus. Some species just won't grow inside. That said, most of them appreciate light shady conditions and a loose, airy growing medium (I use fine orchid bark with a bit of potting soil sifted thru). Avoid full sun. Higher humidity is best -- never keep an anthurium near an air vent. Watering can be tricky, but the best recommendation is to water thoroughly when the medium is fairly dry to the touch without letting it remain soggy. It's sometimes tough to gauge the right moment between damp and dry, but the plant will let you know quickly if it's unhappy. Treat it like an orchid more than a foliage plant, and you'll have better luck indoors.
