Some landscaping would help it greatly, as would a teal colored door. If no one is around to maintain the landscaping, then you could have some interesting boulders arranged in what looks like the graveled area. Wider trim around your windows would help, but I don't think it's the right style of house for shutters. A big Texas star or set of longhorns, mounted in the triangular area over the front porch could add interest.

I agree not to put up shutters, and also consider staining the siding to a darker tone and adding some 'craftsman' details.

Several possibilities in lieu of /addition to shutters:
1. add a trellis or pergola to the ground floor section to right of the entry (in front of the window)
2. landscaping, shrubs and/or small trees
3. extend the deck to come around the front of the house, possibly add pergola in addition

I concur on the boulders. A well set grouping with a dwarf conifer and some hardy grasses would require almost no maintenance.

I love the way the wood is done in the Craftsman photo. One thing I forgot to mention, I was going to put stone around the foundation. One of my friends said paint it instead....Anyone?

You might consider extending the porch on either side and adding some great round stock posts and a queen post truss open gable. I used a lemongrass green accent color on the siding below the porch and the front door but I love your idea of stone around the base and a orange or red door.

@Builper...no its a Professional photo that the Rental Co uses on their website to rent the cabin. They do photos of all the rooms and view ect. Good bit of Photoshop! Put leaves on the trees and took out the trash cans.

I agree, grass' s and other very low mantenance shrubs and rock around the bass. No shutters larger trim.. depending on your location something for the triangle area over the porch and some reddish stone in the bass and then paint the door red but the teal will go with the roof much better that red..one or two large boulders will look nice too..

Whoops just realized your roof is green. This would be a better combination for you.
