I think you might be right - 1 might be a little too short, the other a little too long but let's see --- how tall is your island? How tall is tallest person in house?

Shwn here.> simple classic ball- cube pendants... You have recessed lighting around the room, therefore the area over the island is for ambient mood, not to dazzle with spotlights. Just set the mood. And add dimmers to it to boot. In the samples above, these are more for lighting up a dimly lit pool room ..in actual use you will see bulbs when you are actually working under the space looking up and these shades do not buffer light. Look at Kelly Hoppens kitchens and dining room for some inspiration when you get a minute. Gotta run.

How can I see the pendants in the bottom pic. I would had to add the holes in the ceiling to electrically do this but they are kinda neat. Maybe have an island light. Who is the manufacturer?

I really like the amber colored light. it warms things up. I think w The BM HC 40 greenfield pumpkin, I am thinking of painting over the red it might look nice. Ok maybe back to pendants???? LEYA who is the manufacturer of these? Thanks to everyone for ur help and advice.

I have a couple of comments:
1. The skylights in that living area are absolutely gorgeous.
2. In comparison to the living area, the kitchen feels a little cramped, even though it looks like it is a fairly large space. Because of this, and to keep the views unobstructed, you might want to consider an alternative light source other than a pendant.
3. My alternative: (it is a LOT more work, but very successful) create a light cove and uplight it with LED strip lighting. It will light the kitchen and make it feel much more open.

Pendants/mini-pendants are great. Sorry, I thought you weren't able to do them due to some electrical issues. But if you are, that opens up lots of possibilities. I do like the ones from Leya's bottom photo. They are sort of similar to the ones you have in your dining room

So expand to pendants now? :) Still want me to olioboard/photo-shop the other billiard-style lights?

you can do a straight track on the ceiling that wires into the recepticle that is there right now, then have the pendents ends wired to attach onto the track.

As far as I know if there is one electrical source nearby -electricians can feed wiring.. ask an electrician , though what is involved in your case. I dont know what area you are from- for sourcing amber cube pendants. I got them on google. so if you were up to ordering them- ALL MODERN Outlet, has them free shipping ( US I Imagine) for 188. they were called Tech Lighting Cube Kable Lite Suspension 700KLUB> But check this one out.. Lamps Plus, has a rectangle version you might like better slightly more. But source your local quality lighting sources. Ask for amber cube pendants lights. If they dont know ask who knows- or buy online, if shipping is free. Check the cost of feeding wiring. you have one fixture there already- I think they just splice it.

I am on lamps plus.com and typed in amber pendant. So many options. I like the satin nickel finish since it compliments my hardware. I would probably only do two pendants and center them in between the sink and where the island ends. that gives me about 5 feet to work with.

I think you know what to look for, if you go through lighting sources nearby. Mood light as opposed to source light, get under the light and see if you are looking at bulbs. Simple is more, look for basic shapes and avoid any fussy or contrived embellishment or ornamental stuff. As a side note next time you paint-you could look at toning down your trim from stark white that jumps out and doesn't relate> to one with a subtle hue in keeping with your backsplash tile palate.. im thinking like pale oak..but i cant see the colours with great accuracy..A good Benjamin moore rep. can advise a trim for your colour palate. It costs you nothing to ask what extra coststo feed another light. -be sure to say its only going X amount inches over.- I just know my guy says its easy. No Problem. it might pay back well, to avoid that billiards look. Always, Go for what looks best, not what you felt limited or cornered into. They just pull out the wiring and then push it across behind the drywall-with a flashlight, maybe drilling a 2x4 if they have one in their way. Look around online for what Look you like then hone in on sourcing in your area- what they have. : ) Shopping around is half the fun.

Some more pictues. The cube light which I believe is the one LEYA pictures is only 2 1/2 by 3 inches. I kinda like the oval shape, but maybe the linear lines in the kitchen would work better with the rectangular or cube shape. I feel like I am getting closer!! Thanks

Ooo thank you. I think I like the nebbia amber glass ones the best. They are of course THE most expensive. But I have to look at them everyday so I want to love them!!

Bear in mind -my scale might not be off- I dont know the size. Yes it makes a huge difference to LOVE them.

I like her bottom one the best. With the cube, but I like all tha amber lights. I really love the nebbia ones I have pictured with the hand blown glass. I want to see if they come in the dark Bronze mount. I am searching online for the best deal. the diameter of this one is 6 inches.

If you look up lightolier on the internet, they make ceiling tracks from 2 to 8 foot lengths, then they also offer adapters that attach to the pendents that you buy that you like and you can then attach them to the track. You won't have to cut additional wholes in your ceiling or run additional wiring in the ceiling.

All right so it is narrowed down! That's great! Make sure the store where you order has an easy return policy in case you don't like what you order once you get them. Sorry we don't have them. Let me know what you decide. Or if you come across other choices you want photo-shopped/olio'd, just post them.

I am wondering if I should paint the kitchen before I make my Final decision! Although I can't imagine it would make That much of a difference.

I found some on amazon- more affordable, also hand blown glass ones from YLighting- got a 5/5 review LOL.. they said its stunning. 280. but you have to buy a receptacle for the ceiling separate it looks like.. Have a look. They are a decent size. : ) Painting ! LOL no > makes no difference -good things are things you build upon.

No I haven't decided on pendants yet, BUT I have decided to go with 3 instead of 2. I do believe I will go with some shade of Amber just don't know What SHAPE!!! I saw the two above today and wasn't thrilled. I went to a lighting store today and WOW, so many choices. I am just trying to figure what shape would look the BEST! (there are cubes, rectangles, ovals bell shapes, can shapes, cylinders etc..). I am clearly spending much to much time on this!! ;) thanks for your time.

There is a LOT out there. I struggle with the same issue as store owner - how much do you carry? Can't have too few choices, can't have too many but there are so many nice things.... :)

You are further along than you were when you started. You might want to self impose a deadline so you don't get bogged down by it.

okay! so I may have not found new pendants but I did start painting my kitchen today! Getting rid of the red! Big difference!! Hopefully this will make picking out pendants easier?!! I am enclosing a pic of my kitchen. I also am enclosing two pics of pendants that I like. One kitchen has a slate backsplash as well. What do you think? What would you say the shape is? (schoolhouse pendant? , globe ?) any idea who the manufacturer of these are?

Painting your kitchen first will definitely help you decide. I like the pendants in the Ed Ritger photo best but I am finding myself partial to the cubes for your kitchen. We'll have to photoshop/olio them in after your kitchen is painted!
