Yesterday, I let my dog off his electric fence for a bit after I got home. He looks to go into the woods behind our house to do his business and sniff around. Well, he returns after a short while, and a large deer is following him about 10 yards back! The deer even sees me and doesn't seem to care. My dog looks back, sees the deer, and continues on his way. This surprises me, because he is a hundred pound German Shepherd that loves to chase deer (although he never catches them). I give him the "Get it boy!, Go get it!" admonition, he looks at me funny for a moment, and then proceeds to carry out orders. The deer takes _way_ too long to process that she is being chased, and seems quite surprised. She _barely_ gets away.

I wasn't sure what to make of the incident, but it got me thinking about the need to deter the deer from the garden further. I've been counting on the dog to do that, but it appears to me that he may be friendly with some of them! Any quick tips?
