Oh no,mine was bought from a Hawaiian nursery on EBAY. It was a gift. It grew fast indoors. Its close to 6' and half as wide. It does need constant water or will drop leaves....something its adapted to. I have had that happen a couple of times...and weeks or months later fresh growth sprouted all over it.
I've had it too long to risk it outdoors unless somebody else can tell me they have one outside! (In California)

That looks great...very dark green. Mine I tried to overwinter outdoors..and it couldn't take cool or cold nights in the low 40's. I brought it back in,and its thriving as a large potted indoor plant.
Its not a tropical to like cool nights. Even summers here.

Mine was given to me. But,she told me she bought it from EBAY,and a Hawaiian nursery.
They are fast growing. If you buy the smallest plant (when seeds aren't available) they wont take long to get size. Outdoors they are for the very warmest,mildest winters climates.

Now,where to get some fresh fruit for eating? I'm stumped. I haven't seen any fresh at the local Filipino supermarkets. They might have had them frozen come to think of it.

You really need to know how to eat a santos to enjoy it. First peel it like an apple and only eat the outer rind (firm/sour/sweet). That is the truck of my santol behind me. I planted it to close to the house trying to get as much cold protection as possible.

The inside is mushy and can hold up to 4 or 5 seeds. I plant them in my aquaponics gravel with the junk still hanging on and they geminate in approximately 1 month.

My tree usually puts out about 50 fruit per year.
