Need help with living room TV wall!!

We would like to have some built-in shelves on each side of where our TV would go on a larger living room wall. Problem I'm finding is we are not having a fireplace & all the ideas show tv above fireplace with built in shelves on each side or cabinets. What do I do with space under the TV so it's not just a long space with a flat screen tv in the middle??? HELP please!
