I have many small clumps of wild onion growing in the turf in the back yard. How to I get eradicate/treat this? The grass is just starting to green up and these little clumps are about 3" higher then the grass and look like little mohawks sticking up out of the grass mocking me!!

In the fall I appled Preen Fall Weed Control Plus Fertilizer and clearly the weed is still persistant, but the Wild Onion may not have been active in growing and taken in the 2,4-D weed killer in the product.

This spring I have been looking at the Preen weed and feed products as well as the Broadleaf Weed Killer they sell. I'd like to avoid applying fert to the back yard unless needed. The back yard is actually is pretty thick and last year grew FAST and I don't want to be out there cutting it every 4-5 days if I apply fertilizer.

Should I scrap the Preen line or did I just mis-time my application last fall to control the Wild Onion? Honestly, I didn't even notice the Onion until this spring. Should I just attack the Wild Onion with a spray directly on the weed? If I apply the broadleaf weed control only, when should I apply it?

I read the weed and feed bag and it says to apply when the dandilions begin to flower, before puff-ball stage, so this would be clearly many weeks from now, so I would like some advice.
