I may be wrong, but it looks like new young plants of garlic mustard. Although garlic mustard leaves growing up the stalk are pointed at the end, the first year leaves are quite round, just like you see here. Anybody can confirm or deny?

Looks like garlic mustard to me too.

Pull it up in the fall. All of it. If you pull it up now, you will just disturb the seed bed and new ones will take its place.

Pull it up again next year. It's a biennial, but it seeds profusely and if it's been there awhile there is probably quite a viable seed bed that will keep coming back. In its second year, it gets long-stemmed and not unattractive white flowers in April or May. That's where all the seeds come from. Whatever you do, do NOT let it mature into flowers. If you do get flowers, pull them, bag them, and dump them. Don't compost them or let them lie around.

Good luck!! The good news is it has shallow roots and pulls pretty easily. The bad news is, it's a lot of pulling. I'm dealing with a whole mess of the stuff now.

Forgot to add that it's such a prolific seeder that it is easy to mistake it for a creeping groundcover that spreads from the root, but in fact each plant is totally separate from the others.

Not that I don't doubt anybody elses' judgement, but to me this looks like more mature Creeping Charlie. Nasty stuff- very much a creeper. HOWever, dried the leaves supposedly make an okay tea. Haha. Might be wrong...
