Need help choosing bathroom colors!

Hello everyone! I need help choosing accent colors for the bathroom in my new home. The tiles are a mixture of beige, peach and pink. I was going to play it safe and do everything white to match my toilet and vanity, but I wanted to see if anyone could come up with something less boring.

This is my only bathroom, and it's SUPER small, so it has to be as beautiful and spacious as I can make it.

Thank you!!

Well that's nice and neutral tile-Lucky! Check colors: BM Meadow Pink, and BM Hampshire Taupe for upper walls---both have warm, pinky-peach undertones, perfect for that room and will add a bit of drama. An off-white/white roman shade for window, straight tailored shower curtain, and a new light over the medicine cabinet... Fluffy towels... Cheers!

I would remove the window and shower curtains, while they don't take up much physical space they do take up visual space. For the window stay with the pleated shade you have and add a tailored valance: [houzz=

For the shower curtain, a straight tailored shower curtain as Natalie says BUT hem it so it just touches the top of the tub. You have a liner to keep the water in so a short shower curtain will work fine.

I would add white and black accessories. Black will make it less frilly and feminine. [houzz=

Bobbi, I love your black and white idea! And you and Natalie are exactly right: keeping the bathroom tailored will make it look much bigger than what it really is. Thank you both! What color towels and shower curtain would you recommend?
I would recommend a stark white textured shower curtain (not off-white) with black and white towels, soap holder, you know, bathroom "stuff". Try to avoid red. Although red is normally a great compliment to black and white, you also have beige-pink-peach so I would not go there.

Love the black and white accessories. My daughter used them in her guest bath and she has black towels which she monogrammed in white. I can't see real well in the first photo, but I think you have the vanity light with just the bulbs? If so, I would switch that out to something more contemporary as well.

Also a trick I like to use is I buy 2 of the same shower curtains and hang them together. For me, the problem with shower curtains is they look unnaturally stretched across the rod. Two curtains make them look more luxurious.

    Hi aareeda,

I'd agree with Bobbi P here, consider removing the window curtain- it looks too much like "grandmas" house to be honest. Maybe pick up a new, more modern shower curtain as well. You can find plenty to choose from at Bed Bath & Beyond, plus they have 20% off coupons everywhere online.

As for paint color and other small renovations; how would you feel about painting the walls grey? Wall Street grey is a really nice neutral color by Sherwin-Williams. You could incorporate oranges, salmon, pink and grey in your shower curtain, shower mat, towels, etc. to tie all the colors together. It will create a warmer feel in your bathroom, rather than that boring white.

You might want to also consider getting a new light fixture for above the mirror. Maybe something more like this- http://bit.ly/XyAP5o

Hope this helps. Good luck with your project!

I think this is perfect opportunity to put up a smashing wallpaper. Since it is a small area, even if the wallpaper is expensive it won't cost too much. I love this jazzy one from Jane Churchill - Mardale/Red (J079W-05):

Bathrooms are always gut jobs. Find an inspiration point. usually, it should be your countertop, then build your scheme from there. Goodluck with your project!

I vote for a soft grey wall too with black, white, pink accents. This is what comes to mind when you talk about your colors :)

I agree with houssaon on the wall paper idea. If you are stuck with the tile colors, then play them up and make them look intentional. A tone on tone wallpaper with the same color way would be nice, and definitely lose the frilly curtains and change the light out to something very simple or else something small but blingy. If possible, I would lose the ceramic towel bar holders because they are very clunky looking in the small room and streamline those also. Post pictures when your done, would love to see it!

For sure remove the curtains! Stick with pure white for towels and everything else. That will tone down what is already too much color.

I would use lots of tailored black and white with touches of silver. It will elevate the pink to a more elegant intentional level. I had a bathroom with some of the same color fixtures and tried to make it less obviously pink which never worked well. Once I made the pink the main attraction it all of a sudden went from dated to chic

I would paint the wall space in a tan color to warm the space and draw the eyes up. I would take down the window curtain for an updated look. If you need something on the window, just add a valance to it. The sink is lovely. I would also change the shower curtain to one with tan or brown in it. You could add a nice picture to the wall space( small one). I would also add a bath rug in tan or another color that matches the shower curtain that you choose. Color in the space will draw the eyes to it. Add some nice towels to the bars also. Can the metal towel bar be straightened?

install a glass shower door remove the curtain and install shutters replace the small mirror and get a large one walls should be white and floors a neutral natural stone like white or beige. remove the soap and toothbrush holders as well as the metal bar( unless you need this for other reasons)

You have muted pink and beige. So add some muted green. Perhaps light, perhaps dark. See with a few meters of cheap cloth first to see if I am totally wrong. Bobbi P's idea is best, but if you really want to get rid of boredom, this is the thing to do. Please post the eventual result!

Try a bright, fun shower curtain to liven the space up:

Then painting the walls white won't seem so drab.

I would also consider updating the window treatments - plantation shutters might be a great option. (If you have white plantation shutters - maybe you would want a brighter color on the walls like a deep coral or a rich rose color?)

Another great trick for making small bathrooms feel bigger - expand the mirror! Get a large mirror that covers the majority of the wall, or use several mirror panels. Then just choose new lighting. It will give the illusion of a bigger room, and then a bright pop of color on the walls won't stand out too much either.

Looks like you have a lot of great suggestions. One of the largest changes you will see is if you get rid of that wall paper and update the fabrics like the window shades and shower curtain. Paint the walls a neutral white or gray. Here is a shower curtain photo and window shade ( http://www.blindsgalore.com/WindowProduct.asp?id=704706) idea. Keep it simple and functional. Also, if you would like to add functionality to the space for storage, use shelves like pictured, but make sure you don't over clutter them.
