Hardwood will always be my first choice.

There is a product that is available here, not sure if everywhere, and I am providing you a link to their website. What they do is take granite and recycle it. It can be used indoors (generally shiny side up) or outdoors (generally dull side up) and is no more expensive than tile. It is a really neat look and environmentally friendly. It would make a neat foyer. Don't think I would want it on my kitchen floor. Makes a beautiful patio. It is 3cm thick however so that needs to be considered.

What are the other colours & finishes in those spaces. I have large porcelain tiles that look like travertine stone in my main bathroom - looks fantastic! I've also seen them in kitchens & hallways, very classy & really warms up the space.
