The bark betle is the vector for the fungus, both of which ultimately kills the tree, whether in New Jersey or Montana. Droughts in the western U.S. should increase beetle populations, while the foresters tell us that there is nothing that can be done because it's a natural cycle. Is this not waterfront property in Arizona and the fairy tales of job security? How many were ticketed during the BP oil spill for helping to clean up seagulls and pelicans?

In fact, bark beetle outbreaks can be seriously roughed up when just under 900 beetles are captured and killed. Will a citizen's group of bark beetle activists be ticketed and make the newspapers, or not?
