Wolf appliances?

Hello :-)

we just bought a new house and don't like the appliances it came with. I'm a passionate cook and a chef-like kitchen is one of our priorities. Coming from Germany, I'm more used to Miele, Bosch, Gaggenau than to Thermador, Wolf or JenAir.

We did some research (mainly in kitchen magazines) and came to the conclusion that Wolf might be the way to go. I want 2 ovens, one with steaming/convection. A gas cooktop and a SubZero fridge. We'll have an outdoor kitchen too.

Would you suggest to get the cooktop with the charbroiler, or without? Considering the grill will be right outside. And should I wait to get one of the new models which come out in May? If I get one with the charbroil function, I need a special heavy duty hood, right?

And what are your advises when it comes to the ovens?

Thanks in advance! :-)

If you are used to Miele, Bosch and Gaggenau, why not just go with one of those brands, they are all available here in the states.

If you do want to go with Wolf, which I personally have for most of our appliances and really enjoy, then I would say probably don't go with the charbroiler, but that is just my personal opinion. A lot of people have them and use them and love them. It depends on what you want to cook and how you cook if it will be a good idea for you.

Ultimately, only you and the people using your kitchen can decide on that.

We love our Wolf L-Series oven and also have the Wolf CSO (Convection Steam Oven), and it is our favorite appliance in the kitchen. Pricey, but we have loved it so far.

You don't need a "heavy duty hood" so much as one that is rated with the right CFMs for your setup and is also large enough.

Best of luck,
Phil

Because I just had a complete Gaggenau kitchen and wasn't impressed at all. Never again! Yes, Miele is our second favorite brand. We would choose Miele, if Wolf can not convince us. The Wolf CSO is bigger than the Miele, if I understood it right. And that's important, cause I want to be able to cook a 24lbs Turkey in it.

We visited a Miele Showroom last year (in Germany), liked some of the appliances, but the guy there told us that Miele US is a bit different from what they offer.

Thanks for your reply.

Be aware of the blue chipping issues with Wolf. Despite what dealers are saying, this is a very current issue. Some of the newer models of wall ovens will have a more easily replaceable, bottom to make it cheaper to fix. There are plenty of posts on this forum about it.
