insul-tarp - any opinions

Hi folks,

I thought I had successfully posted this question last night, but don't see it -- so here it is again.

Our HVAC contractor would like to use insul-tarp instead of rigid insulation under our concrete basement floors. We are heating with radiant floor heat. The inspector, has not passed us yet as he needs to first research more about whether insul-tarp is an acceptable concrete insulator or not. The code in our area of Ontario specifies an R-value of 8 must be used under the concrete for radiant floor heat.

Any thoughts on insul-tarp?

Thanks,

Carol
