I like black shutters on red brick, Light gray or off-white trim, yellow door.

The blue has got to go. Black shutters is ok and pop the door with red door and play off the black wrought iron work. Leave the cream but could be alittle lighter......pretty home with lots of "look". The yellow door idea looks good too.

I agree the blue needs to go...do you have another idea for shutters than black or is that just the best choice. eventually I want to do something above the door.

Here it is with the red door for a "not so unexpected" look. This is classic for brick houses and for good reason! A black door is also safe, but personally I like having the door be different.

You could do dark brown shutters and a black door. The shutters are viewed from such a distance that they could conceivably look like wood. I'd use a darker brown than this pic, but this shows a bit of contrast.

I like the added stripe of color on the fascia board to match the shutters, but would look good either way. What color is the roof?

I think that that red is too orangey. Needs to be deeper and more red. You are right it would be more traditional but that is the style of the house. Unfortunately the red brick does limit you some but the home is lovely. I have seen shutters in taupe with a terra cotta door on a red brick home but that is your choice. Love what you can do Susan.

If the area and other houses are conservative and you want to stick with that, use black for the shutters. It's the most classic. Off white for the trim, and either red, yellow, or blue for the door. If you choose the right shade, any of these would compliment the brick without being too weird for the neighborhood. My personal favorite is yellow.

Leaving the door as is would be fine too. The biggest improvement you could make is simply painting the shutters black.

I am a HUGE fan of painted brick, if it's in the budget I would suggest painting the brick light gray with black shutters, white accents and fabulous glossy black front door with shiny brass hardware and kickplate:)

I am with Katiewms...Would look awesome with medium gray brick painted, white trim, & black shutters & door...Also make a small gable "roof" over the front entrance...I recently saw a house simular to yours that added that gable over the front door & it is amazing the change.

The door appears to be stained and varnished and I like that. Paint the shutters hunter green. Do some landscaping. Cut those hedges down some and add another hedge in front of them and some colorful annuals. Edge the grass and mulch. Also have those trees trimmed up and mulch around them as well. Pretty home!

I hate those bushes...they will not be easy to be rid of...
I love painted brick too...what is the upkeep for that? there is a lot that I want to do before I paint the brick...

I think smaller and less blocky shubbery would help, and the white on the garage is distracting--could be toned down to color of pediment or the shutters. I also think a classic British park bench would really look nice.

Here are some links with some more ideas for shutter and door colors: Forest green isn't mentioned but is traditional and can look nice--bit more color than black. And I think yellow doors are becoming more popular and not so different after all--especially if it is toned down a bit. The pediment is already a butter yellow and may need to go lighter to antique white or white and grey to contrast enough.

Painting the shutters black would give a more classic look, or no shutters. i would recommend pruning the bushes lower so they do not hide the windows. Keep it simple and le the architecture of the home speak for itself. Trim colors with more beige/gray undertones, current one is a bit yellow. Best of luck!

Your shutters would look nice in white or beige or tan also.

I love your door the way it is. If u paint it, it will be harder to turn it back to a varnished door. Stripping and sanding is not fun and very time consuming. Red shutters would look nice. We did ours like this and did our door in a cherry and it really makes a statement and is a simple fix for u. Red is behr- red velvet. Just an idea. Good luck
