I cap the top of this kind of wall with one piece of marble so it can tolerate water. In fact I avoid tile on any horizontal surface other than a floor.

Thanks Renovator8. Sadly, it wasn't until researching this last week that the (better) option of a solid piece on horizontal surfaces would have been the wiser choice. Wish our designer, contractor, or tile-setter mentioned it.
If we fundamentally change the design ("we want a marble top now"), then we'd essentially be paying for our shower twice. Assuming we don't want to do that, do you think putting a slope on the top of the wall is worth it? Or just make sure to use some good grout sealer?

To fix the slope of that wall, they will need to destruct it. Might as well get a small piece of solid something to replace it with. It would also probably be easier to "replace" and look better if you did it...

I have this same setup and I don't have a problem. it is siliconed thickly on the glass. We have been in for 3 years.
